It’s Growing Season

New machinery provides platform for further growth

iberica1Following the successful injection of capital through Derby Enterprise Growth Fund’s (DEGF) Enterprise Expansion Scheme, we have been able to invest in new machinery, site and building infrastructure to increase our production capacity

As part of our business growth plan, we expanded our manufacturing facility by moving into a larger unit on the Langham Park Industrial Estate, enabling us to double our capacity. Building on this growth, fc cartons rang in the new year with the installation of the new IBERICA JR-105 Die-cutter Press during February 2014.

iberica2The new IBERICA, combined with our technical expertise, enables us to offer greater flexibility, speed and accuracy to deliver all our die-cutting, creasing and embossing services under one roof. This model is versatile and can die-cut various materials including paper, cardboard, fluted, plastic and corrugated items. It also comes equipped with an automatic stripping unit. The Iberica represents another piece of the jigsaw; we now feel we offer the complete picture when it comes to specialist finishing services.

Speaking about the new press, fc cartons Managing Director, David Woodyatt said, “The new IBERICA has enabled us to diversify our services, and improve our efficiency and capacity. The machine gives us flexibility and ensures continuity in production for our customers – we’re now better equipped to meet their extremely high standards and fast moving demands. I believe that our strong market position, growing customer base and the promising pipeline of opportunities will provide us with a good platform for further growth.”

iberica3“We recognise the importance of investing in the right people for our continued success. To this end, we have hired five new members of staff who include a Quality and Systems Controller, three Production Assistants and a Machine Assistant. These new additions to our team will help us build our competitive advantage based on the skills and competencies of the best candidates – people are fc cartons’ primary assets; they represent our knowledge base and our competitive edge which enables us to offer a first class service”

We also recognise the importance of standards in our business and our achievement of the BRC/IOP High Risk accreditation in October 2012 was another highlight, our customers can be assured that our new capability will be produced in a safe and hygienic environment and the work will be produced to a high quality standard.

Welcome new staff to fc cartons

We’re pleased to welcome five new members of staff to fc cartons. In January, Tyler Brown, Michael Muya and Patrick Storrar joined us as Production Assistants, while Daniel Kilbourne has come on board as the new Machine Assistant. In February, Ash Bradshaw joined us as the new Quality and Systems Controller.

Our five new additions have a variety of outside interests. Tyler enjoys football and is a staunch supporter of Forest. Daniel is also a footie fan and counts joining fc cartons as the single most life changing thing that’s happened to him! When he’s not working at FC, you’ll find Michael throwing shapes on the dance floor to Latin music. Patrick in the meantime, enjoys charging around outside airsofting and flexing his muscles in tug of war, while Ash follows Portsmouth FC, a dying breed.

We look forward to getting to know them and wish them a long and fruitful career at fc cartons.
