NEW Apprenticeship programme

RYAN TRIMMER - Machine Operator Apprentice

Ryan Trimmer becomes the first successful candidate to join our new Apprenticeship programme at fc cartons. This will enable us to have sustainable skills throughout our business and industry.

Having discussed our needs with Carl Roberts from Matrix Training and explaining the role we had in mind which was a machine operator apprentice in our die cutting facility, we interviewed potential candidates over a number of weeks.

Ryan joined us after completing a year’s course in engineering at Derby College and has continued his development by working through an NVQ level 2 diploma in manufacturing operations on-site at fc. Carl from Matrix makes regular visits to see how Ryan is getting on with his NVQ and also to monitor his progress within the business and especially within the die cutting and creasing process.

He is proving to be a real success and has been rewarded for his efforts. I am sure that by the end of his apprenticeship, the skills he has learned will benefit both himself and fc in the future.

Ryan says “this is so different to college but more enjoyable working with the team, I know I have lots more to learn but already feel I contribute”.

He is hard working, eager to learn and very enthusiastic, we couldn’t be more pleased! The Apprentice programme is ongoing and we look forward to giving more young people the opportunity to learn new skills across all our capabilities and join our already talented team.
