FC Cartons Ltd management systems achieve compliance for ISO certification

Team fc are extremely proud of achieving ISO certification for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards with Certification Body Alcumus ISOQAR. Team fc have invested in this rigorous assessment process to demonstrate our commitment to all Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety aspects of our business.

More than one million organisations use the ISO 9001 Quality Management System demonstrating a commitment to quality. FC’s management framework ensures best business practices are adopted to enable us to achieve our ultimate goal, ensuring we exceed our customers’ expectations. Being certified helps demonstrate that we follow best international practices and can be trusted to do business with any organisation, from small independents to large multinationals – our commitment to quality and service remains consistent. Our Quality Management System is process driven and impacts on all aspects of the Business, cutting waste and costs whilst improving morale and efficiency.

As a business, Team fc have always taken our environmental impact extremely seriously, attaining and retaining a carbon neutral status for twelve years and have PEFC (PEFC/16-33-2256) certification. It is always useful to reflect, interrogate and challenge systems so in achieving ISO 14001 certification, we have helped to maximise cost savings through improving efficiency, productivity and reducing waste. We control reputational risk by demonstrating that we are committed to protecting the environment and have the appropriate control measures in place.

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSMS). Health & Safety of the team at FC Cartons Ltd has always been top of our objectives. All employee’s roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and documented plus a competency matrix was developed to include Health & Safety and Environmental training elements. All employees are required to complete a Health & Safety induction and HSE awareness training. In addition, regular Health & Safety meetings are held, of which, a rotation of shop floor employees are invited to attend.

Mike Pepperell, Senior Lead Auditor for Alcumus ISOQAR commented:

“The management and employees of FC cartons clearly put a lot of effort into preparing for the audit. Initially, the audit was arranged as an on-site audit but due to COVID-19 this was re-arranged as a remote audit. The auditors were given every assistance by FC Cartons in making the records available and accessible, a superb effort by the whole team and very well done. It is clear that Quality, Health & Safety and the Environment are of the highest priority to FC Cartons”

fc believe it’s key to have the whole team engaged in their processes and systems, therefore, we ensure everyone has a voice and have an inclusive approach to meetings. By having a rolling membership from the team to internal systems meetings, we feel it gives us a different perspective to the business and ensures team buy-in.

Debra Woodyatt Director of Finance and Systems commented:

“As a BRC Packaging AA graded company prior to working with Alcumus ISOQAR, it meant our existing systems and quality control processes were invaluable throughout our audit process to attain certification. We continually review our systems and procedures to ensure they match the changes within our business as it continues to develop and evolve. We strive to improve the business and drive that improvement by continually reviewing our KPI’s, analysing trends, gaps and inconsistencies. These principles were used to support our work to attain certification as we worked our way through the audit process”
