Some of you may know that when the company was set up, we didn’t have to look too far for inspiration when it came to choosing the right name. It was Freddie and Charlie, our sons whose initials shape our corporate identity and branding.
Charlie who is now 16 years old, thoroughly enjoys his basketball and we have loved watching his progression. He joined the Derby Trailblazers Basketball Club in 2011 as a Mini (junior player) and now plays in the National League under 16’s. He’s enjoyed a fabulous season with the team this year. They emerged as champions in their league, winning their league with 19 victories and just a single defeat during the season.
We’ve lent our support to the club over the years. We were match ball sponsor on 22nd March and 4th April when the team played for a place in the play-off positions of the Division One England Basketball league.
The club is growing due to the committed coaches who inspire young players to take up the sport. Players start early – some are as young as five. They learn the game in the Mini’s section and then gradually progress on to the under 13’s, 15’s, 16’s, 18+’s, Division One and so forth.
