Apprenticeship scheme makes a big contribution in the fc Team skills solution

Our apprentices are making a valuable contribution to both the quality and depth of our highly skilled team.

Kieran and Joel are both doing the same apprenticeship working towards the Performing Manual Operations. Level 2 NVQ and training to become gluing machine operators! We were delighted that both have passed their Level 2 Award in Industry Environment Awareness Examination.

Both Kieran and Joel have fitted into the team seamlessly and are learning at a fantastic rate, both from a theory and practical perspective. They are learning skills from their mentors Chris Greensmith and Paul Marriott as well as working through their qualification manual with the help of Loughborough College.

Liam Cox Operations Director commented:

“I have high expectations for both lads. They have a great work ethic, I see excellent commitment and hard work, if they keep up with the same willingness to learn and adapt to working life, I have no doubt they will be a great success here at FC Cartons”.

They only have to look at the achievements of our former apprentice Ryan Trimmer! He is now a full time trainee die-cut operator and has only been with the company four years! He too learned the skills required for the role from his mentor Steve Furniss, at the same time working through his qualification manual and gaining his NVQ Level 2 in Performing Manufacturing Operations with flying colours.

We hope to develop our Apprenticeship scheme further sharing the story with local schools, colleges and even local sporting teams in the area to showcase the opportunities here to join the fc Team. This will allow them to develop their own potential and provide a path to a skilled trade which will safe guard theirs and possibly our future. We hope that our Apprenticeship scheme will illustrate to other young people the real opportunities which exist in this route of learning and training.

Here at fc we like to train from within so that everyone gets the chance for betterment and personal development, our apprentices are making a valuable contribution to both the quality and depth of our highly skilled team.
